Frankie – Our November Pet of the Month

resize1Frankie is a 2 year old English Bulldog that came to The Animal Hospital a very poorly boy indeed. He was urinating blood and in general, having a really hard time passing any water. This made him miserable. He has to have xrays taken to see exactly what was going on. It turned out that Frankie had a bladder stone and sediment in his bladder, which was causing him problems.

Poor Frankie had to have his bladder flushed and to go on a specific urinary diet to attempt to dissolve the sediment. He was being treated with drip, antibiotics and strong pain relief to make him more comfortable.

KISSES FOR PAM

Frankie spent many weeks at the clinic during which time he had to have 2 major surgeries! One to remove the bladder stone and another to create a new urethral opening as his normal opening was permanently damaged. During his time with us he stole all the nurses hearts and is well loved by the vets too! He loves to give hugs and high fives,as well as kisses, even when he wasn’t feeling his best.

Frankie has been improving everyday and has now been home with his owners for a few days and is doing really well, although we miss him here!!! I know his owners are delighted to have him back at home.

He will have to remain on the special diet (which he doesn’t seem to mind!)  and will need regular check ups but we are so happy he is doing well. there was a time when we were not so sure if things were going to have a happy ending!
