Niamh Shoebridge
Animal Care Assistant
Niamh joined the team at The Animal Hospital in August 2021 as a Receptionist and Animal Care Assistant. She studied Animal Care at DFEI and has been working with and studying animals ever since with a particular interest in nutrition, behaviour and training. She has a dog named Kailen, a rabbit named Billie-Jean and a tortoise named Sprocket.
Sandra Keogh

Sandra is our receptionist and the newest member of the team. Sandra has always had a love of animal care and rescue. She studied Veterinary care at Kilester college. Sandra is the proud mammy to a little boy and two cat babies, 11 year old Streak nd 2 year old Quill and also fosters cats in need whenever possible.
Amy Preston
Animal Care Assistant
Hi I'm Amy. I completed my level 6 in animal care in 2018. After that I began working in a pet shop and went on to learn dog grooming. I've always wanted to continue learning about animals, in all shapes and sizes. I started working in the Animal Hospital in September 2021, and I'm loving every minute of it. I hope to go on and study Veterinary Nursing in the near future.
Laura Smartt RVN

Laura studied Veterinary Nursing in Dundalk and graduated in 2018. She joined us from a clinic in Dublin in the summer of 2021. Laura is an animal lover and has 2 dogs, 2 horses, a cat and a rabbit.

Hi, I’m Amy. I graduated with a Veterinary Nursing degree from Athlone IT in 2021. I am the newest nurse to join the Animal Hospital team. I have a Yorkshire terrier called Lili. I am excited to start my veterinary nursing journey apart of this team.
Nicole Heffernan

Hi, I’m Nicole and I am an Animal Care assistant here at The Animal Hospital. When I was 15 I done some work experience and loved it so much that I continued to do volunteer work on Saturdays up until last year when I got a job as an Animal Care Assistant after I studied level 5 in Animal Care. I am currently doing a level 6 course for advanced animal care in DFEI and look forward to studying to be a veterinary nurse in the future. I have two dogs called Roxy and Layla, a hamster called Bubbles and a budgie called Jinx
Pamela Collie RVN

Pamela rejoined the team here at Animal Hospital this October after 2 and a half years away from us. She qualified from UCD in June 2020. Pamela has an 8year old Boxer called Rocco and an 11year old cat called Jared! Pamela is delighted to be back with the A team.
Gemma Nolan

"Gemma is in third year studying Veterinary Nursing in UCD. She did placement with us in January 2019 and loved her time here.
She's been working with us part time as a trainee nurse since March 2020 and can't wait to graduate!
She has two dogs called Marley and Ace and a cat named Cosmo."
Emer Byrne RVN

Emer began volunteering at the practice in 2016 before deciding to return to college as a mature student to study veterinary nursing. She has now completed a 3 year degree course from Dundalk Institute of Technology. Emer now works full time at the practice as a newly qualified nurse. She has a 9 year old cat named Maisey.
Paul Doherty
MVB MRCVS
Paul graduated in 1979 from UCD, he began his career in a solely large animal practice in southern Ireland.He then worked in S.Africa for 5 years, before returning in 1985 and buying the Village Vets practice from Mr Maloney.

In 1991, a new premises was bought and the practice now called The Animal Hospital moved to its new home in its own grounds at 37 Main Road. .
Mary Murphy

Mary graduated in 1993 from UCD and went to work in the UK. After 5 years she returned to Ireland and worked as a locum vet.

She came to The Animal Hospital in 1999 and has been with us ever since. Mary has a number of pets including 2 cats called Bo0 and Tom.

Niamh graduated in 2014 with a veterinary Nursing degree from Dundalk Institute of Technology.

She first came to the Animal Hospital in 2012 for a college work placement. She enjoyed the experience so much that she came back in her final year and is now working here as a as a full time nurse.

She has a 6 year old Jack Russell named Cleo.
Claire Nalty RVN

Claire graduated in November 2018 from Veterinary nursing in DKIT. Claire started with us in 2014 working every Friday as part of her work placement whilst completing a fetac level 5 animal care course. She loved the hospital so much that she came back to us for work placement for her first year in veterinary nursing. She is now working at the hospital full time as a RVN. She has 3 cats named Bonnie, Clyde and Ninja. She also has two dogs, a pointer cross named Phoebe who is 5 years old and Paddy a terrier who is 2 years old. She loves nursing and minding all the inpatients.
Aisling Higgins RVN

Aisling is one of our Senior Nurses. She studied veterinary nursing in Letterkenny Institute of Technology.

Aisling first started with us on work placement back in 2013. She enjoyed her placement so much that she came back to us in her second year to work every Saturday as a trainee nurse. She graduated from LKIT in 2016.

She has aa 11 year old Maltese called Jake and a 7 year old rescue Shih Tzu Cross called Lily.

Aisling enjoy's the phelbotomy side of nursing and surgical cases.
Michael Cannon
MVB
After graduating from UCD in 1991, Michael worked in Northern Ireland and then moved further afield to New Zealands North Island where he worked in a 20 person practice, which dealt with domestic and farm animals.

Back in Ireland, he has worked mostly in the care of small animals, which he enjoys greatly, particularly the surgical side of the job. Michael grew up in Co.Meath in a home inhabited by a series of strays. He has been a member of the Animal Hospital team since 2008.
Nicola Brennan
Groomer
Nicola joined us in Jan 2001 part time as a veterinary nurse and groomer. After starting her own family, she concentrated more on grooming and has been looking after the beauty needs of dogs since then. Nicola has a 7 year old crossbreed dog called Flo, a 9 year old cat called Inky , a 3 year old cat called Lulu Mcmittens and 12week old kitten called Miss B.
